It is inevitable that in your working life that you will have to deal with people with different personalities and it’s highly likely that you will not always agree with your co-workers and bosses.
On the surface this question seems to be an opportunity for you to vent your previous bad experiences and disagreements that you have had with former bosses and provide the interviewer with an inside scoop on how bad your previous employer was. But far from it this question has a lot more to do with you and how you dealt with different personalities positively and effectively.
So depending on the situation and your own circumstances you might say something along the lines of “I was fortunate enough to have a good working relationship with my boss and any feedback he gave me I would take on board and use it to move forward. Having said that I was also comfortable to give my boss my opinion in a constructive and positive way if I felt that it would benefit the team and projects that we were working on and he appreciated that. This was possible because we had a mutual respect and an open and communicative relationship that helped us to avoid difficulties and conflict”.
If you do talk about issues that lead to a strong disagreement between you and your boss you should always put a positive spin on the story and use an example which had a positive outcome for both parties and helped everyone and the business to move forward.
